Day of Remembrance

  • Central Schwenkfelder Church 2111 South Valley Forge Road Lansdale, PA, 19446 United States (map)

Please plan to attend the Schwenkfelder Day of Remembrance on Sunday, September 22nd at 3:00pm. The service, followed by the traditional bread and apple butter meal, will be held in the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall at Central Schwenkfelder Church.

This event is the longest continuously running Thanksgiving observation in the United States. Our first one was held in 1734, the day after the Schwenkfelders disembarked at what is now Penn’s Landing on the waterfront of Philadelphia. Think of this year’s event as part of the countdown to 2034, our upcoming 300th anniversary celebration of the landing.

Rev. Alfred Duncan, Pastor of the Schwenkfelder Missionary Church, will speak on, “The Hearts, Thoughts, Emotions and Spirituality of an Entire People.” (read Psalm 44)
